Unit/Section Leader Course (and refresher)
Target group
The Unit/Section Leader Course is aimed at employees who are responsible for co-ordinating the workings of the health and safety organisation in the event of a fire or other such calamity. Participants should first have successfully completed the HSR Course.
What does a unit/section leader do?
As a unit/section leader your actions are dictated by the company’s Emergency Contingency Plan. In the event of a calamity or a fire it’s your responsibility to delegate and co-ordinate the activities of all the available health and safety representatives (HSRs). You will be expected to mobilise the HSRs, delegate the responsibilities between them and act as the point of contact, for both your colleagues and the professional emergency services. You will also ensure that the HSRs are well drilled and you will monitor the materials and equipment used by the HSO.
Practical assignments
As part of the course you will be expected to carry out a practical assignment in your own organisation. The second day is a practical day in which you will play out your role as unit/section leader. Carrying out the practical assignments is regarded as part of the examination. Furthermore, the practical assignments during the second day are carried out in conjunction with your fellow participants.
